“떠오르는 태양” — 삶의 방향을 어디로 잡을 것인가?

일요일 아침, 교회를 향해 고속도로를 달렸다.
계절이 바뀌며 해 뜨는 시간이 달라졌다. 오늘은 햇빛이 백미러에 정확히 닿아 눈이 부셨다.
같은 시간, 같은 길이지만 일출의 각도는 조금씩 달라지고 있었다.
너무 눈이 부셔 앞을 볼 수 없었다. 고개를 숙이고 썬글라스를 꺼내 쓰자 다시 길이 보였다.
그 순간, 마음 한켠이 조용히 움직였다.

햇살은 참 아름다웠다. 그 빛을 받아 황금빛으로 물드는 들판도, 가을 하늘도 모두 하나님의 손길이었다.
그런데 그 빛이 너무 강하자 아무것도 볼 수 없게 되었다.
그때 깨달았다. 하나님의 영광도 이와 같다는 것을.
하나님이 창조하신 해조차 똑바로 바라볼 수 없는데,
감히 나는 하나님의 얼굴을 직접 보게 해달라 기도하고 있었던 것이다.

빛이 너무 강하면 시야가 가려지지만,
그 빛이 비추는 방향으로 나아가면 길을 잃지 않는다.
하나님이 비추시는 방향을 바라보며 걸어가는 삶, 그것이 믿음의 길이다.

그분의 빛을 감사히 받아들이는 순간,
분주했던 마음이 고요해지고 두려움이 사라진다.
감사는 하나님을 인정하는 마음이다.

하나님과 같은 방향을 바라보는 사람에게 하나님은
감사로 마음을 채워주신다.
그것이 오늘도 주시는 하나님의 은혜이다.

아름다운 가을 하늘과 가을 햇살을 받으며 예배하러 가는 길에 주신 마음이다. 두려움이 몰려올 때 주님이 주시는 은혜였다. 어두운 내 마음에 하나님의 영광을 아는 빛을 주신다.

고린도후서 4:6

어두운 데에 빛이 비치라 하시던 하나님께서 예수 그리스도의 얼굴에 있는 하나님의 영광을 아는 빛을 우리 마음에 비추셨느니라.

"The Rising Sun" — Which Direction Should We Take in Life?

On Sunday morning, I drove down the highway to church.
As the seasons changed, the sunrise shifted slightly. Today, the sunlight hit my rearview mirror directly, blinding me.
Although I was on the same road at the same time, the angle of the sunrise had changed.
For a moment, I could hardly see ahead. I lowered my head and put on sunglasses, and suddenly the road was clear again.
At that moment, something stirred in my heart.

The sunlight was beautiful. The fields bathed in golden autumn light, the autumn sky—everything reflected God’s handiwork.
Yet when the light shone too brightly, I couldn’t see anything.
It was then I realized: the glory of God is like this.
Even the sun that God created is too bright to look at directly, so how could I expect to behold God’s face?

When the light is too strong, it can blind us—but if we move in the direction that the light is pointing, we will not lose our way.
Walking in the direction God shines His light, that is the path of faith.
When we gratefully accept His light, our restless thoughts are quieted, and fear fades away.
Gratitude is acknowledging God’s presence, and those who look in the same direction as God are filled with His peace and grace.
This is the gift He gives us today.

On the road to worship beneath the beautiful autumn sun,
I felt God’s gentle voice:

"When fear comes, fix your gaze on Me, the Light."

“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
